Murphy-Cates Learning Center

The Murphy Cates Learning Centers are founded and established on the belief that everyone - child and adult - is a special creation with unique God-given talents, abilities and gifts. The Murphy Cates Learning Centers are committed to identifying each individuals talents, abilities and gifts, and establishing methods and means to maximize their potential in intellectual, academic and practical situations so each can live a full, productive and rewarding life.

M.C.L.C. is full service learning center offering a variety of educational services to children and adults. The center provides private, tutorial instruction (one-on-one and small group) to adults and children who are experiencing learning difficulties. Students come from public, private and home school backgrounds. The center offers a unique service to home-educated students. While the instructor teaches the student, parent educators are encouraged to observe and participate in order to apply the same "nuts-and-bolts" approaches at home.

Another exclusive Murphy-Cates Learning Center service is personal one-on-one training for parents with the centers executive director. During these extended sessions, the students completed evaluations are examined and the curriculum thoroughly explained. These sessions include hands-on instruction with the curriculum the parents will be teaching. Any questions parents pose will be answered. For parents using this service, the Center is available for consultation by phone.

The Murphy-Cates Learning Centers are a service of Understanding the Way, Inc., an educational services organization located in Kingston, Tennessee and founded in 1994. Brenda Murphy is the organization's president and executive director. She can be reached at MCLC's main office: 106 Armour Road, Kingston, TN 37763, phone 865.376.7005, fax 865.717.2458, or e-mail bkatzmurphy@juno.com.
