FAQ

Here is a list of common questions we receive regarding student testing.

Which Program Is Best for My Children?

The truth is, your children are unique. God has created your children with an individual learning technique and ability. Not all curriculums are appropriate for a particular learning style. Whether it’s your first or fifth year in schooling, choosing the best curriculum for your children remains one of your biggest challenges. How do you make sense of all the available programs? Certainly each has its merit, but which one is best?

How Can FCM Help?

Faith Christian Ministries offers a comprehensive testing service to help you tailor-make a school program to best develop your children’s talents and potential and to best meet your individual needs as well as your children’s individual needs.

The FCM staff tours to major cities in the United States to conduct one-on-one consultations with students and teachers. Your children’s abilities and learning techniques will be evaluated individually using key diagnostic tests. Many of these tests are done orally or involve using manipulatives.

What Does the Testing Involve?

Your children will be evaluated in six areas of the auditory learning and six areas of visual and visual motor learning; 15 areas in reading including five areas to determine what they can do independently, five areas with you teaching, and five areas of frustration. The testing takes approximately two to three hours.

What Kind of Follow-up Does FCM Offer?

After the testing, a conference is held to help you understand your children better and know how to deal with your children’s talents and weaknesses. You will also be assisted in selecting a curriculum and forming your schedule.

A report with specific materials and levels checked will be given to you. Also, a schedule for daily assignments will be included. FCM will also help you in purchasing any/all of your specific curriculum needs. FCM sells all curriculum at current catalog prices. This will save you from having to contact 10-12 different publishers.

Who Is Eligible for Evaluation?

FCM evaluates all children – gifted, average, L.D., A.D.D. (Attention Deficit Disorder), autism, dyslexia, dyscalculia,  normal, retarded, and handicapped. The testing is not to label your children or help your children be eligible for special public school programs. It is only to help you discover your children’s talents and gifts and to help them be what God intended them to be. FCM does not believe in labeling.
